SAICSIT 2025
Call For Papers
The University of Kwazulu-Natal is pleased to invite submissions of full papers to the South African Institute of Computer Scientists and Information Technologists (SAICSIT) 2025 conference. The conference will take place at Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel and Convention Centre, Durban, on the 17th and 18th of July 2025. The conference theme, Sustainable Digital Intelligent Frontiers, aims to stimulate robust engagement to generate new insights into digital intelligence for a better future. The 2025 Edition of the conference is hosted by the disciplines of Information Systems and Technology and Computer Science at the University of KwaZulu- Natal.
South African Institute for Computer Scientists and Information Technologists (SAICSIT), founded in 1982, aims to ENHANCE research and development collaboration with other professional bodies; SUPPORT education and training; SEEK solutions to technical and socio-economic problems in South Africa through research and development projects; STRIVE for professionalism and excellence.
Subthemes of the conference under which full papers may be submitted include, but are not limited to:
- Green AI and Machine Learning
- Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development
- Innovations in Sustainable Digital Infrastructure
- Digital Inclusion and Social Impact
- Human-Machine Collaboration for Sustainability
- Ethical and Responsible AI
- Policy, Governance and Regulation
- Cybersecurity and Sustainability
- AI in Healthcare and Public Wellbeing
- Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Management
- Intelligent Transportation and Mobility
- Sustainable Finance and FinTech
- Renewable Energy and Smart Grids
- Smart Education and Learning Analytics
- Sustainable Supply Chain and Logistics
- Smart Agriculture and Food Security
- AI and Digital Technologies for Sustainable Development
- Intelligent and Resilient Systems
Authors are asked to indicate how their research addresses the select sub-theme. This will be considered during the review process.
All full papers will be double-blind peer-reviewed by an international panel of experts. Accepted papers will be published in Springer CCIS Series – Communications in Computer and Information Science (DHET subsidy-bearing as a journal publication). High-quality papers not accepted for the CCIS series will be published in the SAICSIT 2025 online proceedings with an ISBN.
Submissions should be formatted using the Springer guidelines, available at https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-guidelines and author names and affiliations should be removed from the initial paper submission due to the double-blind review process. The program committee will consider the following criteria when evaluating submitted papers:
- Originality of contribution.
- Relevance to the conference.
- Technical/scientific merit; and
- Presentation and clarity.
Authors of a limited number of excellent papers will be invited to extend their work to be included in the South African Computer Journal.
Accepted full research papers must be presented at the conference by either the main author or one of the co-authors.
MASTERS AND DOCTORAL STUDENT SYMPOSIUM
Students are invited to submit work-in-progress papers (3 – 5 pages) which will be presented at the Masters and Doctoral Student Symposium. Students who wish to present their work-in-progress papers on 18th July 2025 (SAST) are invited to make their symposium submissions by e-mail to saicsit2025@ukzn.ac.za address by 31st March 2025 (SAST).
CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
Interested parties who wish to chair a panel during the main conference or who wish to present a tutorial or workshop on 17th July 2025 (SAST) are invited to submit a proposal for their respective panel, tutorial, or workshop by e-mail, to saicsit2025@ukzn.ac.za address by 31st March 2025 (SAST).
